The Water and Sewerage Corporation, with the support of the Government of The Bahamas, is presently in discussions with the Inter-American Development

Bank (IDB), to secure funding for the following:

• a) Reduction of Non-Revenue Water in New Providence by by 2.5 – 3.5Migd within five (5) years
• b) Institutional strengthening of WSC
• c) Rehabilitation of critical wastewater infrastructure and preparation of a Master Plan for wastewater in New Providence
• d) Update of the legal and regulatory framework for the sector

An important part of the discussions is the preparation of an Environmental and Social Analysis to identify the benefits and possible impacts of the project, and to develop mitigation measures where required. IDB policies also mandate public disclosure of the ESA - you can download the report now.
