CONSUMERS ADVISED TO CONSERVE

WATER DURING TANKER MAINTENANCE

Residents of New Providence are being asked to take stringent measures to conserve water before and during the 20-day absence of the MT Titas tanker for routine maintenance beginning October 20.  The MT Titas imports nearly 3 million gallons of water per day or 30% of the total New Providence water supply from North Andros.

While the vessel is dry-docked in Tampa the Corporation says it will make use of all available options to maintain adequate water pressure throughout the island, including increasing production from its well fields in New Providence and coordinating demand requirements with large consumers to minimize the impact on other customers.

The Corporation warned, however, that customers can expect to experience pressure reductions during off-peak periods and some may also notice occasional changes in water quality such as increased salinity.

As a result the Corporation advises consumers to take stringent measures to conserve water, including suspending activities such as watering lawns, washing cars, or filling pools and spas.

For more water saving tips consumers may visit the Corporation’s website at www.wsc.com.bs .
